I haven't seen Dr. Who yet, so nobody talk to me. I probably won't have time until Friday!!  I'm in a sort of anticipation/dread mode right now. I don't want DT to be gone.
I went over to John's this afternoon so we could make cookies and while I was helping him tidy up a bit, I noticed that he had one of those log bins, the kind that have the attached tote with handles so you can load it up and carry the wood to the frame and attach it.  It looked like wrought iron, with scroll work.  I asked him where it came from and he said his mom gave it to him for Christmas.

The thing is, the day before Thanksgiving, I bought one for John to give to him for Christmas.  A really nice hardwood one with a nice canvas tote. Solid cherry or something. I don't know.  But it's really nice.  And I've had it for a MONTH!

I was so upset I nearly cried.

I told him about it, and he said he had told his mother that he wanted another one so he could have one for his big pieces of wood and one for the little kindling pieces, which I guess makes me feel a little better, but damn it, I had mine bought a month ago and now it's all ruined.  I haven't even wrapped it yet because I had it hiding away and now I don't want to because he knows what it is and the fun of unwrapping a present is the surprise.  I know he doesn't care and it's not anybody's fault, but I'm still bummed. I guess because it's our first Christmas together, I wanted it to be special.

In other notes, I'm taking care of my friend's cat while she's away for Christmas. Mimzy spent the last 24hrs underneath my dresser, but now she's moved to hiding behind the Christmas tree, which means she managed to travel the entire length of the house, which I see as progress.

Tonight we have drinks with his parents before midnight mass and the tomorrow it's church again and then dinner at his parents' house. I have two new (well, new to me) outfits to wear, so that's nice.

I really need to go make the egg strata for breakfast tomorrow and have a shower and get dressed for church.  And maybe figure out how to wrap a log tote that is too big to fit in any of the boxes I snagged from work. Anyone got any ideas?

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!!!

I love Christmas, I really do.  I go a bit mad every year. But this year, I've been so busy, time has flown by and I'm not enjoying it as much as I normally do. Plus, there's lots of stuff going on, in my life and the lives of people I care about.  I'm tired. Really really tired, but I have to finish writing out Christmas cards for people at work. I just finished my last pair of Christmas socks, for my boss.  I spent all weekend knitting to get those done. I knit in bars, at a Moose Lodge, in a bowling alley, during my favourite local band's concert, at restaurants, every second I had to spare. But I'm finally done!  I can't wait until tomorrow's over so I can just relax.  And then I can get back to my love affair with Christmas.
